Huawei announces its 6.1" Ascend Mate 2

Huawei, China's largest cellphone manufacturer, is releasing the Ascend Mate2, a 4G capable phone that has a screen size of 6.1in, , slightly bigger than the already enormous Samsung Galaxy Note 3, along with the 1,280 x 720 resolution.

It's almost clicks the size of a tablet, giving rise to the term "phablet". It's the successor to a phone of the same size launched last year.

The huge size of the Ascend Mate accommodates a large battery, with roughly three times the amount of energy stored in an iPhone battery.

This is a 4050mAh Li-Polymer battery, making it the highest capacity battery in any smartphone currently.

Huawei claims it will last for 3.5 days of "normal" usage, or half that for heavy usage.

Another additional feature in this phone is that, through a USB port, the battery can be used to charge smaller phones.

The main camera is a Sony 13-megapixel unit complete with a fast f2.0 28mm lens. And with a 4cm macro capability, the Ascend Mate2 could be the ideal phone for those who love capturing nature.

Huawei CEO Richard Yu indicated that the Ascend Mate2 is presenting a front-facing camera with a 5-megapixel model, complete with a fast f2.4 lens.

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 provides a RAM with a capacity of 2 GB, 16 GB internal memory, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. The phone runs on Android 4.3 and is implemented the Emotion UI proprietary interface.
